- Block Producers: They can choose transactions to include in the next block and earn the rewards for that block.
- SNARK Workers: They use computational power to help compress network data and generate proofs of transactions.
Additionally, Mina addresses common blockchain issues with decentralized applications (dApps) called Snapps. Snapps use cryptography to execute trustless blockchain transactions and leverage the power of zk-SNARKs to prove knowledge without revealing critical information.

Mina Protocol was founded in 2017 by Evan Shapiro and Izaak Meckler. They aimed to develop a decentralized and scalable blockchain. Both work for O(1) Labs, the company behind Mina Protocol. Shapiro is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Meckler is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
